Important Tips On Structural Web

By Tiffany Gill

Glass assist is a method being adopted by manufacturers in the production of high quality plastic products. Structural web is very effective and it works by having pressure injected in to the parts that are considered hollow with varying degrees of cross sections. In addition to using low pressure, it has been seen that the end product is smoother and very superior in terms of design.

Resin is the first product to be injected in this process. Once its injection is complete, nitrogen gas is then introduced using injection as well. The injection of nitrogen gas is important in that it helps push out the molten plastic that may be stuck in the cavity walls.

Once the gas has been injected, it will follow a path known as that of least resistance. It will work to hollow out all the sections that are considered thick in nature. In so doing, it allows the designers working with the plastic unlimited flexibility in terms of creating products with different types of thickness.

Glass assist technology has opened a lot of possibilities for manufacturers and all the people who use plastic in different capacities. Limitations that were previously present in other forms of molding have also been done away with. New possibilities are also present.

When it comes to benefits associated with using this product, there are quite a few of them. Weight has been reduced by between ten to thirty percent. The reduction in weight has also meant that the costs associated with materials are now lower than before.

Production of large parts is now possible by combining numerous smaller parts. By adopting this type of production, the cost of production has also gone down. A reduction in cost in this case does not mean that quality is affected in any way. Apart from reduced costs, efficiency has also been highly improved.

Appearance wise, glass assist has been very good as well. Plastic products made using this technology are not only efficient, but also better looking. They all come with a smooth exterior and an even glossier finish. This finishing is all thanks to the low pressure technology that has been utilised.

In normal high pressure injection, manufacturers get to encounter very many limitations especially when it comes to parts that can and those that cannot be produced. Glass assist has made it possible to use different types of additives and resins. High quality resins can easily be added in to the manufacturing process.

Another additional benefit especially to designers is the fact that parts can be easily colored. Texturing is also possible which helps eliminate the additional cost that would have been incurred. Environmental concerns are also well addressed in this type of injection with a lot of ease. The environment is not harmed in any way.

Structural web involves molding using low amounts of pressure. This therefore means that less energy is consumer for every pound of plastic that is produced during manufacturing. The materials that are used in this process are also very few and all this is possible without compromising on the quality of the end product.
