Certainly buying a used Nissan Altima can offer someone a sports car attitude at a practical price. Many versions of the car have been made which means there are lots of options to choose from.

The Altima is generally accepted to be more luxurious than the Sentra but less so than the Maxima. They have been manufactured in both Tennessee and in Mississippi and have been in production since year model 1993.

The first generation was built with the option of either a manual or automatic transmission. It was considered to be one of the bigger compact cars and could accommodate four adults comfortably. Several versions provided a variety of features based on the sticker price.

The second generation was manufactured first in 1998. This generation's interior was the same size but it was widely considered to feel larger inside. The engine size was increased in later years of this model and was likewise available with a variety of features in different price ranges.

The interior size was increased during generation three to a point where it was actually larger inside than the Maxima.
