Changing The Curtain Colors To Change A Room's Ambiance

Curtains are the easiest and fastest means to set an ambiance in a room. As walls distinguish the whole room, curtains determine the ambiance. Colors play a big role in the room's definition and mood, and since we can't change the walls' colors as frequently as we like, our choice is left on these hanging fabrics.

If you have already chosen which kind of curtain will look great and will work best with your room and window, including which type of textile will be great for a given weather, then it's time to choose the colors that will fill the entire room.

First, ask what's the motif of the room? As the walls are not that easy to repaint often, then the color of your drapes should first depend on the color of your walls. You can have them in shades that match each other. Unless you're aiming for silly, a mismatched room color won't attain your goal.

The ambiance that you want to project in your room also varies with colors. The right tones can achieve an elegant and inviting feel in a living room simultaneously. A specific shade of red mixed with black has a hint of sexual ambiance, while a powerful shade of red mixed with white can convey an atmosphere of power and exuberance.

In general, cool shades such as gray, green, blue, and white aid people unwind in the room. Hot shades, like red and orange, ooze energy. Yellow radiates a happy aura, while pink emits playful mood. Gold curtains are perfect for rooms that convey wealth and prosperity, much like the castle rooms during the Victorian era.

Sometimes, mixing the colors of the drapes can help you achieve your desired motif better. For example, a clean and relaxing atmosphere can be conveyed by mixing neutral and earth tints, like beige and white. A teal curtain on top of red can give off a stylish finish. For a childlike and carefree mood in a room, mix yellow and pink curtains. Black and red, meanwhile, can convey an illicit, enigmatic and dark atmosphere.

There are also other components that affect the outcomes of the drapes. The length, fabric type, and the design play influential forces also. But shifting the curtain's colors is a quick fix. Experiment with colors, try what shades affect you positively. For an instant lightening mood, give your room a makeover by switching the colors of the curtains.
