Mergers and integration mean that two companies that have been operating separately will come together and work as one. It can be a very complex process because each of these companies has a way of doing things, and they are now being compelled to adopt a common way of doing things. The complexity of this process has necessitated that each company gets post merger integration training. But what exactly does this training do?

For an establishment to operate effectively, they need to have shared and common goals. If you are in the process of merging with another entity, then you will also need to have shared goals. Creation of these goals is a complex issue because each of the companies has had a system of working. Therefore the two companies will need to be taught on how they can make goals that are common and goals that will not conflict with each other.

Companies have different cultures. Cultures are developed over time, and they have shared beliefs, norms, and values. To integrate one culture to another can be very complex because each company has developed this culture over a long period of time. So, people need to be trained, how they can change and adopt a common culture. There should be an expert involved in the development of a new culture and in training on how they can adhere to this common culture.

The entities in the two companies merging need to communicate so that they can come up with shared goals and also come up with strategies to meet these goals. However, since these two companies have a lot of people who are strangers to each other, then there may be a communication barrier. In this case, the management should invite an expert who will train each stakeholder of the two organizations on how to have good communication.

The major issue in the integration of companies is the technical integration of operations. People need to be trained on how they can work together to ensure that they continue with their operations effectively. The training should identify how these two companies should develop their system to work together and also how the systems should be monitored by the staff of both companies. There is a lot of synergies that are accrued from mergers, and it can only be exploited if they are trained.

The management and leadership of these two organizations also need to integrate. But because each of these leaders is accustomed to having the leadership role by themselves, shared responsibility and mandate may be technical for them. If they do not know how to work together, then there is bound to be conflict. When there is conflict among the leaders, then the organizations will crumble. The trainers will ensure that they train the leadership of the organization on how they can complement each other so as to ensure that the company progresses.

A lot of people do like change. They like doing things the way that they are accustomed to doing them. But mergers are bound to bring about change. It is important that every organization that wants to merge hires an individual that will train the employee and the rest of the stakeholders how they can deal with the changes that come in.

It is important to have a training session after a merger. This is because there will be a lot of changes, and the people who are affected by these changes need to be trained on how to change. The article indicates the areas that the trainers should cover and what this education will aid.
