Different Sources Of Water And Its Uses

By Debra Walker

It is very essential for the survival of all living things. This has been very much important for humans also. There will not be any day without the use of water by humans. It shall be used for many activities. The basic necessity of man is met by water. This is used for agricultural and constructional purposes. Pump plungers are very effective in pumping huge quantities of body of water.

In most countries electric power is generated from dams. Rainfalls are stored in dams and then it is used to run turbines to generate electricity. This current is then transferred through sub stations at various places. People are charged on the basis of consumption of current.

These utility companies take good care for everything, regarding all activities with regard to water. Any concerns with regard to water need to be addressed to these companies. In countries where this is supplied by government, all grievances and payments should be made to the concerned department of the government. Most government provides subsidies for using water.

Areas where there is no supply of water by government, people depend on well water, river water or bore wells. Well water may be good for drinking. But at places where there is more congestion of houses, there might be a possibility of sewage water getting mixed up with well water. It may be better to use plastic containers for storing human faeces rather than concrete rings. It has been identified because there is gaps in between rings and sewage may mix with ground water.

In developing countries as most electricity cables are laid over head, there is a possibility to break down when big trees falls over it. Electric cables are not insulated. When storms come, trees might fall over electric lines. Electricity would be still there on the electric lines. Automatic disconnect of electricity may not be active at most places.

Many areas will have little ground water. So digging some wells will not bring any water. Deep wells have to be bored, which is called bore wells. It cannot be done manually. A hole is dug out with machines and pipe is laid in it. Sometimes the holes are dug through big rocks and it is pumped out with the assistance of motors.

Due to much contamination of drinking water, there are many water purifiers available in the market. People who have enough money can buy these purifiers. There are normal purifiers and very good quality ones. The latter ones will be very costly and only few sections of people will be using it. There should be a recurring cost involved in maintaining these purifiers.

Long time back, many people used to die by getting electrocuted. This can be from faulty lines and also from the use of unsafe electrical equipment. Government now advise people to use equipment that has a standard mark. Those equipment are quality tested and would not be having any problems with regard to electric shocks as high quality products are used.

At some places only hard water will be there. This is called hard because it contains small quantities of minerals like calcium and magnesium. This can cause some problems for industrial units as it may damage pipes and containers. Sometimes processing is being done to make it soft, before using it.
