Strengths And Weaknesses Of Corrugated Steel Panels

By Rebecca Bell

Corrugated panels can either be used for roofing or siding. There are various factors that make corrugated this metal panels the best option for roofing or siding. Below mentioned are their advantages which explains why Corrugated Steel Panels are the preferred choice.

It has a high ability to last for a long period of time. One of the most wanted or sort after qualities in the materials required to put up a structure is their durability. This metal is known for its ability to be durable because it does not easily corrode when coated with substances such as paint. It has also been proven to be quite resistant to fire, it is not flammable which a major advantage although, concrete is better in this regard. Despite of it being incombustible though, after being exposed to fire, strength is reduced and leaves it vulnerable to buckling. Also, it being a good conductor could be disastrous during a fire and hence fireproof measures need to be undertaken.

The change in the moisture content in the atmosphere could cause expansion or contracting of materials which could cause warping for example in wood. Metal is not affected by such changes in the moisture changes. Also, that metal does not experience cracking or bending. And due to that this metal is suited for extreme condition areas.

Materials such as wood are known to expand and contract due to change in the moisture content. Different moisture levels in the wood causes warping. With this metal, such effects are not experienced and hence the durability of that metal. It also does not experience bending or cracking. Therefore, this good is better suited to be used in extreme conditions. This metal is also known for its strength, it is resilient and hence can handle tough conditions. The metal is better suited to handle conditions such as heavy winds and earthquakes.

The product is reusable and fully recyclable, no matter how long it has been in use, it could still be recycled. Hence no material wastage in the long run is anticipated. This metal does not need to be treated with preservatives and hence is environmentally friendly cannot be harmful to the environment. That product is not hard to get. When compared with concrete, it is much easier to install.

The metal has a very high strength and is ductile and is resilient which are needed qualities when dealing with extreme conditions. This good is known for its ability to withstand such conditions. These extreme conditions also include natural disasters such as earthquakes.

There are also a few setbacks this property has, although they are a few. The first one being that it can easily scratch or experience some dents hence one may often need to be careful not to scratch it. Also, if the metal is not well coated, exposure to atmospheric conditions can easily cause corrosion that is caused by reaction with oxygen.

This property does have its advantages and also expectedly does have some disadvantages. Although the fact that it is strong and highly resilient and can be fully recycled puts it at a better disposition to get chosen as the material better suited for construction purposes. Also one can easily be creative with these this panels by easily painting over them and hence coming up with various interesting designs. It can also be viewed as cost friendly because of its durability.
