Advantages Of Golf Course Construction To Ecosystem

By Elizabeth Peterson

Golfing is an exciting game loved and played by a lot of people across the world. Other than a recreational activity to many people, it has a wide pool of other benefits. It has been accepted worldwide. It has contributed a lot to effects of the environment and the land resources. Below are some of the areas golf course construction has proven to be beneficial.

It preserves the vegetation cover by maintaining the grass growing on the ground. Any course establishment requires vegetation cover. In this case, the grass is the most favorable. It is necessary to identify an area where grass can grow to set a pitch. Maintaining the appropriate level of growth is vital. Regular slashing can do this or use a lawn mower to keep the levels.

It makes the landscape to have less steep slopes. Always select a site with a few or no steep slopes at all. Steep slopes usually may be hazardous. Golf players may injure themselves when they slip and slide. Especially when it is chilly, and the grass gets wet, moving about on a slope may become difficult. It becomes so tiresome to correct and pick the ball. Players may find it hard to find a good position to stand on so as to hit the ball.

It location enhances storage of water. The construction regularly requires a water supply. The growing grass needs regular watering to grow to required heights and texture. It is, therefore, important to base the site near a lake, sea or any other water body. This will help reduce the cost of transporting water to the place in case it was located in an area far from the water source.

Topological changes are essential. Another factor to consider is that it should be a flat ground. In the case of a hilly land, improvements should be made as soon as possible. Efforts to eliminate the steep features should be put in place. This can be done by cultivating and leveling the ground for easy flow of golfing ball. Sometimes it can be wise to call upon architectures and land surveyors. They will assist in advising where an area is flat to put up the golf courses.

It enhances protection of fertile top soils. Growing grass act as a cover crop to reduce soil erosion. In the case of heavy rains, the top soil which is so fertile can be preserved as there is a minimal runoff. The top soil contains a lot of necessary nutrients which supports the continuous growth of the grass. As the soil is not much thick, it will not cause muddy conditions when the rain falls thus altering with the players.

Efficient water retention through designing drainage and retention systems is noted. This must be implemented to save resources. Rainwater and water reuse strategies should be incorporated. Reuse of water may not be possible in some sites thus you need to come up with retention systems to facilitate this. Environmentally sustainable maintenance practices should be implemented

It also offers the people a chance to relax and recreate especially individuals who support golfing. It may turn out to be a good investment if the majority of people who like the game and enjoy it live within. This is a good business because some individuals pay a fee to watch the game.
