The Processes Involved In Pipes Die Threading

By Larry Wilson

In manufacturing, threading can be referred to a process of screw thread creation. There are many methods which are being used for generation of threads. The methods would include transformative or deformative, subtractive, additive, or combining all these methods. Threading dies utilized in the production of threaded components with high volume are called die heads.

This process is commonly used when working with the older homes, where in threading the pipes is necessary if ever repairs and updates are needed. The machines that are used for die threading Chicago IL have been evolving throughout the years. Nowadays, many portable units are becoming relatively expensive, however, some homeowners would still prefer on purchasing these tools to do the plumbing process on their own.

Rent or purchase a manual machine in Chicago IL for threading from the equipment retailer. The die head is attached for cutting the thread. After this, the machine now will be capable to thread the pipes which are made from many different types of materials which would include various types of resin or plastic.

Checking or inspecting the threader first is very important before starting and replacing the dies or other parts that you have seen as worn out. To inspect would really be necessary if a machine is rented. But for the brand new ones, an inspection may not be that necessary but still is important. If the dies are damage and are worn out, this can possibly result to having poor quality thread.

Mount firmly a pipe into the vise by putting it into the vise then make sure that it is tightened. Squarely and cleanly cut the pipes end by the use of pipe cutter. If you acquire the industrial threader that has a cutting capability, make use of the machine when cutting the length of pipes. The cutters are available either with or without guides. These guides provide a square alignment. Guides are recommended rather than doing cut estimation.

Thin cutter wheels are also part of cutters in which the purpose is slicing through the pipes, while being guided into space. Make sure to provide the necessary protective gears like goggles to protect the eyes from sparks produced by the steel. Ream the pipe ends that are cut with a reamer for burrs to be removed.

Be sure to use the die head which is suitable to the size and type of a pipe and to the form of thread. Die heads are made available in different shapes and sizes including the different types of threads used in pipes with different diameters. Place the die head on top of pipe which is above the threader. Die heads front must be pressed steadily while the handle is being pushed down simultaneously to start the threader.

Your weight will be used as the leverage when applying pressure to the handle. Make sure that you are maintaining proper balance and footing for a maximum control. Using a tool or some other mechanism when holding the handle is not recommended. Doing this may be dangerous and would result to an injury.

Apply a threading oil during the process. If the end of the dies are flat, cease the process against the pipe end. The ratchet mechanism is then reversed and the die head is turned to an opposite direction. Clean the pipe then attach it to the connector.
