Essential Things You Have To Do Just Before Giving Up Your Job

By George Dodson

With today's economic situation, a lot of people end up quitting their jobs to find another. Many people would agree that this would be the best choice if you feel that the job is no longer rewarding.

You start to question - is this really what I want? Do I have other choices? Do you work from Monday to Friday to then enjoy life on weekends?

Having to think of these things leaves you with feelings of depression and can sometimes even harm your health.

However, these should not be the case. Many people who have resigned from their jobs became successful from their new jobs or from their own businesses.

Before you submit that resignation letter, it is but essential that you think over it first.

First, you will need to validate the reason for your resignation and make sure it is not only because your colleagues are talking back at you or backstabbing you. If your reason is that the job can no longer help you achieve your goals or can cause problems to your health then it would be a good reason to resign.

You would also need a good understanding of your current situation. Be precise on the things that you do not like in your job. Is it because you prefer to do things your own way and don't want others to interfere? Probably you don't have the respect that you deserve? Or is it because you're doing something that you really don't want to do.

Furthermore, having to leave something behind doesn't guarantee you anything. Understand if you're moving towards something that is more rewarding. Leaving a job which no longer help you attain your goals does not necessarily mean that you are heading for the right direction - leaving your job only aids the discomfort, pain or stress which you are feeling. Question yourself if the job you're looking less hours. Do you like to take part in a company that provides you more authority or responsibility? Or perhaps little or no responsibility? Would you like to work using your creativity? A complex reason? Try to be precise in the things that you want in your life.

A plan for quitting the job you have should also something that you should prepare. Action speaks louder than words as they say but it is also important that you think of your actions first. If you've come across a solid decision on where you'd rather be than in your job, be sure to plan a route which you can follow. You don't want to leave your job without a well thought out plan. Make further research on the business which you are looking to have, job openings for jobs which you love to do, retail spaces for a business you are planning and others.

Having to lay out a plan you can execute after your resignation reinforces your decision. Also, it can provide you with ease of mind as youll be setting up a back-up plan the moment you are out of your current work. The plan will even boost your confidence and will help you look forward to better opportunities. After which you have come up with a plan that will take you to better situation, you can then sign that resignation and hand it over to your boss with a smile.
