Make A Garden Using Old Tires

By George Dodson

A good way to save on fruit and vegetables is to grow your own, like your parents may have done. It is relatively inexpensive and not that hard to do. The enjoyment of having fresh produce from your own garden is great. In addition, you can grow your own herbs. The taste of your own produce is far better than that available in store. You also get the satisfaction of a produce, you have created yourself. Also you are the person controlling what is added to the production. You know it is fresh, natural, and without preservatives.

Lots of people just dont have the space for lots of fruit and vegetable growing. For that reason, they need an alternative. One possible answer to this problem is to plant your garden in smaller spaces. This works because you can plant, harvest, and plant again during the season and still have enough for your personal needs. Try planting in old tires, it can really work.

You can find many places where you can get these for free. In some cases, they might cost 5 bucks with tire discounts. On average all you will need is maybe four or five for a good bit of planting. If you are planning on a larger planting, maybe up to ten will be needed

To some people the old tires may not look so good. What will the neighbors think? There are ways of dressing them up by covering them with something that looks much better. Setting the tires in some wooden boxes would make them look better. Cutting into floral patterns and then painting them works. The rims of the tires could be used as a stand.

it is best to pick a place and cultivate the soil by digging down to a depth of 4 inches. You want the roots to extend as far as they need to grow into healthy plants. Good soil is essential for planting. The places that stock this would be Lowes, Home Deport or some local store. Make sure you fertilize it properly and then plant your seeds according to the instructions. It is vital that water well but not too much. The little garden will keep you supplied with all you need. Growing your own produce instead of buying it will save you money.
