Staying Fit In College

By Franklin Skribbit

Life can get pretty hectic for college students, and sometimes things can fall by the wayside. Finding great ways to prioritize your time can help you to have the most positive and beneficial college experience possible. As you set your priorities, you will find yourself more able to meet the needs of your educational and social goals.

Before you even start, you need to know who you are writing to and what they are looking for. For instance, you may be writing to a some organization that is involved in women's empowerment or you may be writing to an agency that is a part of a certain industry. Whatever the case may be, you need to be able to write in a way that peaks their interests. This means you need to know how to relate to them and how to show them that you are worth every penny.

Inkscape for free editing with vector graphics - You're going to be working with vector graphics all the time as a graphic designer. Inkscape is focused on the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format, which is the standard format in the industry for things like logos, graphics, and artwork. Inkscape comes with many advanced elements such as alpha blending, cloning objects, and complex layering. You'll be able to create graphics and designs from scratch, taking it all the way to professional quality.

One thing you can do to help incorporate physical activity into your life is to find a class on campus that can keep you active and help you to complete the necessary credits for graduation. Finding an exercise class is a great way to make friends and be active without sacrificing the social or educational aspects of your life.

Be Personable

Blender started out in 2002, and it's a serious piece of software. It's the largest open-source program specifically for 3D creation, and it's constantly being modified and upgraded by hundreds of volunteers from around the world. You can do anything related to 3D creation in Blender, like photorealistic rendering, 3D modeling, and animating. Its capabilities are limitless-and it's yours, absolutely free.

If a gym membership seems like to expensive an option for you, you should look into free activities that you can participate in. One of the best things you can do is run or bike. Even by just walking to campus every day instead of driving, you will be able to increase your activity.

There is no excuse for mistakes. Like previously mentioned, you should be looking over your stuff at least 3-4 times before you go and send it in. Much like a rsum, one error can be the end of the committee looking over your application. When you are editing, make sure you send your essay to someone who has looked over essays in the past. This will help you get some good insights from a past committee member who can really help you with voice as well as grammar.

Get GIMP, the free open-source alternative to Photoshop - GIMP is another open-source program, which offers you all the power of Photoshop for none of the cost. Its interface takes a little getting used to, but when you have the hang of things you'll be able to manipulate photos and images to your heart's content.

As you strive to be the best student you can be, do not forget to find balance in your life. If you neglect one part of your personality, it will come to haunt you later, so make time for your educational, social, and physical self, and enjoy your college experience.
