Crucial Information On Construction Materials Recycling

By Krystal Branch

Deconstruction is the process of slowly tearing down a house while making sure you salvage and recycle the building objects, which is more time consuming and expensive but a far better option for the environment. In construction materials recycling, the workers try to save and reuse the building objects instead of just generating debris that will just add to the local landfill. While not every bit of the debris is reusable, much of what goes into constructing a structure can be recycled for use in another building, below are some of the most common reconstruction debris found in any building.

It is estimated that in the United States, about one million houses are constructed by contractors at a price of 100 billion dollars. The money is mainly used in wood for doors, framing, sheathing, and windows. Reuse of woods is helpful to the contractors as they can construct floors, doors, panels, new windows also fences and barns.

A building can get quite chilly especially during winter if it has not been provided with an interior drywall. The good news is that drywalls are recyclable. This means that they can be reused by builders. Drywall is beneficial in agricultural sector because of a component known as boron. Boron is a useful plant nutrient. Rich soils are achieved by use of this element by the landscapers.

Steel is major component used in construction of skyscrapers, apartments and bridges. It is estimated that in America, sixty five million tons of steel are reused every year. One thing that you will love about steel is its durability. Steel to be reused can be acquired from pilings, trusses and girders in the building sites. Since salvaged steel has adequate strength it is used to make steel frames.

In the United States, just above 11 million tons of roofing shingle is generated as waste every year. Most of the waste emanates from shingles found on old homes and unlike other wastes generated while erecting a building, roofing shingles are actually durable. They last about 20 to 30 years before they require replacement and can withstand bone-chilling temperatures and scorching heat.

It is a good option to use glass products and recycled windows in your project. Glass products are rarely used by contractors as they are easily manufactured and more so they have specifications that make them difficult to use for other purposes. Before a glass window can be reused, parts such as insulating spacers, lamination layers, aluminum and vinyl should be removed.

While cutting brush, removing trees and other vegetation to make room for a new structure the resultant recycled landscape waste will play an important role in building plans. Many local communities and states ban landscape waste from landfills and contractors are required to recycle it. One way to use it is as a landscape accent in the form of mulch as well as composting it.

There are several construction materials recycling methods that you should pay attention to. For instance, you can crush concrete rubble and masonry so that it is used in pavements. Asphalt that is found in many residential houses can be used in road construction. In addition, copper can be sold to local metal dealers.
