Texas dove hunting is an enjoyable pastime for those who engage in it. There are several types of doves that exists in the state. However, there are some restrictions that one should be aware of so that they would not be in trouble with the law. These restrictions are in place to protect the wildlife that exist and maintain a proper balance in nature.

Depending on the area one chooses, the season might start in early or late fall. It is during this time of year, that one is able to legally hunt certain kinds of doves. This usually means that one will have to prepare for sometime in September through to January or February. There are a number of factors that go into choosing the right season to hunt.

Seasons tend to be chosen based on the population of the birds. If there is a very large population in a particular area, then that is a sign that the season has begun. However, if there is a low number, then there is the risk of extinction. So the birds that have a low number in population are protection from anyone that might hunt them.
