Thinking Of Using A Recruitment Agency

By Clare Westwood

The top reasons why using a recruitment consultant is a good idea.

The current job market has recently been rather challenging for recruitment agencies. This article looks at the reasons why using a recruitment agency can be good for your business.

Just because the current economy is gloomy does not mean that there is a never ending supply of highly qualified applicants, a high quality recruitment agent will use lots of tools and techniques to find a suitable candidate for you.

Speed is another aspect to consider, almost all clients who attempt to sort their own recruitment out will be slower filling the position than a recruitment consultant would, this is because they have their normal job duties to carry out and prioritise before attempting to fill the vacancy.

Recruiters also become familiar with applicants and their CV's building up a history on a large number of applicants. Using a recruiter will therefore reduce your chances of hiring a person who has been dishonest about their past.

Recruitment agencies also look into the specialist skills of each candidate a lot further in general. Most experienced recruiters will be able to assess several different candidate skills and competencies and really look at whether the candidate will be good at the role.

When you are looking for contract workers the recruitment process is slightly different, usually clients do not have the time or experience to quickly employ temporary staff. Recruiters usually have large databases full of temporary staff waiting to start work.

It is sometimes convenient to have a 'go between' when clients are recruiting directly they have nobody to act as a go between whereas if they have a recruitment agent working with them they can get professional advice on how to make job offers or rejections.

High quality recruiters know their market area inside out therefore they can provide brilliant advice to clients on a range of different issues such as candidate availability, salaries and benefits, hiring timeframes etc.
