Three Ways to Keep People From Unsubscribing to Your Blog's RSS Feed

By Dave Estes

If you have any sites or blogs, then you know by now that the battle involves repeat traffic, from the same visitors, in addition to merely getting traffic. You have to maintain your blog in such a way that when your readers subscribe to your RSS feed, they shouldn't have any reason to leave. Sometimes when we make our content pages we can easily look sight of the fact that we're not really making them for us, we're making them for our visitors and site readers. Ok, we want you to get some RSS subscribers because it can be very helpful to have them, and we'd like for you to continue reading so you can find out some great approaches for doing that.

One of the first tips that you need to remember in order to retain your RSS subscribers is to provide them with original content. Never just copy material from other sources because that will make people think that you're fake and they won't want to subscribe to you. Your aim here is to make your subscribers stick to your feed by providing them with content that they won't find elsewhere. Think of it like selling them a product and how they'd feel if you sold them a knock-off product. The easiest way to provide fresh content is to write your content with your own personality so that it's unlike anything your readers have read. There are many bloggers that have gained massive popularity only because they kept giving their readers content that is valuable and rare. When you think of your subscriber, they'll always think of you. Remember that RSS subscribers are easier caught then held onto, so always work at keeping your subscribers happy.

The second point refers to the oveall consistent feel to your writing on your site, and of course that should always be maintained. While your RSS subscribers may like you, it's really the information they get from you that is most important to them. Your RSS subscribers are there because of your content, and so keeping the quality high will help to keep them with you. It all depends on your market, but there's usually no end, practically, to the amount of good information you can provide. The only way to receive what you want is to give, and that means giving excellent value to your audience.

Last but not the least; if your readers start feeling that you don't really care for them then they will have a good reason to opt out of your RSS feed. This means if they send you an email or they give you some sort of feedback, you should always respond as quickly as you can. The best way to show that you value your readers is to respond quickly to all of their communications, as they will really appreciate that. Not only that, but it gives you the opportunity to find out how to talk to your readers and also how they feel about your product. This isn't merely customer service as you are really helping your readers, and they feel like they should stay subscribed to you.

You now see just how important RSS feeds are and if you use the tips you just learned about and you always provide your subscribers with the information they come for, they'll never unsubscribe from you. If you use your RSS the right way, you will get tons more traffic and prospects to your blog than ever before.
