How to Get People to Visit Your Website

By Carole Joyner

Obviously, the online marketers website or blog is the mothership of the business. The home of your content that hopes to turn visitors and surfers into buyers, or subscribers. You must realize that a good website, that converts, is essential to the process. But the site is only a one one part of the overall marketing process. You'll also need to get some traffic to that site. If you don't have any traffic, then there won't be any sales, ever.

Surprisingly, many people don't take advantage of the mighty press release. Distributing press releases is so easy, the web is filled with sites for that purpose. As with most everything else, you can find sites that charge for premium distribution, and others are free to use. It's possible that your PR can get used by online/offline media outlets, but it has to be well-written and the product needs to be good. With a good press release, your traffic levels could explode! Of course if your site converts, you could get hundreds of sales very quickly.

Another approach, or strategy, is to write articles which you can submit to directories, repurpose, etc. Most directories allow a bio box and several links at the end of your article. You want to submit your articles to as many directories as possible. Article directories like to have unique content, some moreso than others, so be careful about what you submit and to whom. You'll find a few directories that may ban you if you submit a lot of duplicate content. To avoid this problem, just write some fresh articles each week, and then spin them using a good program. As you keep doing this, your name will become recognizable as will your website, and your traffic numbers will reflect this.

A good place to put a link to your website is in profiles of social media networks, so join a few of these. Facebook, MySpace and other such sites can be very powerful marketing tools, so don't neglect them! You can build a large amount of traffic, which can lead to sales, but taking advantage of these sites, even if you don't immediately see them as internet marketing tools. If you look around, you'll find that many others who are selling products similar to yours have created profiles on social networking sites; browse through some of these to get ideas on what you might want to do in this area. Social networking sites give you the opportunity to meet new people, who can become repeat customers!

There are endless methods to generate traffic. The ideal situation is the ability to keep that traffic coming. If you give just an hour, or so, each day to this activity, you'll find it well worth your time. Remember the potential value that exists in each visitor to your site. Thankfully if you keep working at it, you should be able to build up quite a stable of traffic to your website!
