Why Online Businesses Need SEO

By Nia Lawrence

Based on a study, the websites that are likely to be accessed by Internet users are only those that belong to the top 10 search engines results page. Aware of this information, many online businesses resort to search engine optimisation in order for their presence on the Internet to be felt. After all, with the various SEO processes available, a website can improve its ranking on the search results page, and more people will be aware that it exists.

The Internet is, without a question, an arena where millions of websites compete for the attention of web visitors. A website, much more if it is an online business, really needs to have a lot of visitors so that it can make a lot of money. However, because there can be several thousands of websites that sell the same products, the website that is most visible to the Internet users gets the upper hand. If a website has a poor ranking on the search results page, how can it expect to have many online visitors who can be potential clients or customers? This is where search engine optimisation can help online businesses.

One of the most effective SEO methods is content articles. This process involves the linking of a website to articles that contain keywords or key phrases that are related to the products or services of an online business. Once a user types in the word or the phrase on the search engine, he will be directed to the website of the online business. However, it is important to note that the content writer should not stuff his articles with too many keywords. Search engines such as Yahoo and Google are likely to label them as spam if they contain keywords or key phrases that are beyond the ideal number. Normally, an SEO company mandates its writers to 1 keyword mention for every 100 words at least.

There is no denying that many online businesses have already benefitted from search engine optimisation. Many of them have made the world aware of the services and the products that they offer. Obviously, it is not only the owners of these online businesses who benefit from SEO; the consumers benefit from it, too. Why? Because of SEO, people can avail themselves of the great products or services that could have been hidden from their knowledge and sight without the help of SEO.

Beyond the shadow of doubt, there is cutthroat competition among the myriad of websites on the Internet. If an online business is not on the first 10 listings of search results page, it's tantamount to being non-existent. Thanks to search engine optimisation, really good but unnoticed websites can give a good fight.
